SEC EDGAR / FILING INDEX / SOURCE SEARCH

Find the SEC filing evidence behind the question.

Start with a ticker, filing type, topic, or year range. DocuLens helps you move from the SEC EDGAR record into the section, footnote, table, or historical fact that matters.

A more useful path through EDGAR

The official SEC EDGAR search is the primary public record. A focused DocuLens workflow helps you decide which filing to open, which sections to search, and what context to keep when you find a match.

01 / SCOPE

Choose the issuer and period

Start with the ticker and the annual or quarterly range that defines the comparison.

02 / SEARCH

Search the relevant disclosure

Look through MD&A, risk factors, notes, financial statements, and filing tables by topic.

03 / UNDERSTAND

Read the source in context

Check the units, definition, period, and surrounding language before you carry the result into a report or workbook.

WHAT TO SEARCH

Useful EDGAR searches are often specific

  • “How did gross margin change in the latest fiscal year?”
  • “Where does the company disclose debt maturities?”
  • “Did the risk-factor language around supply chain exposure change?”
  • “Which filing table defines the segment revenue number?”
  • “What did the company report about capital expenditures across years?”

Do not search for a conclusion

Search for the language and tables that can support or challenge a conclusion. That keeps the workflow useful when the filing is ambiguous, when terminology changes, or when the answer is “the record does not establish that.”

Use EDGAR search with transcript research

SEC filings show what the company formally reported and disclosed. The earnings transcript analyzer covers what management and analysts said. Use both when a question crosses commentary, guidance, and actual results.
